ABOUT

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are a form of scarring on the skin with an off-color hue. Over time they may diminish, but will not disappear completely. Stretch marks form during rapid growth of the body, such as during puberty or pregnancy. In pregnancy they usually form during the last trimester, and usually on the belly, but also commonly occur on the breasts, thighs, hips, lower back and buttocks. These are known as striae gravidarum.

Stretch marks are caused by tearing of the dermis. This is often from the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth or rapid weight changes. Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, bodybuilding, or hormone replacement therapy.

OUR RECOMMENDATION

At CK Plastic Surgery we have several options to reduce the appearance of stretch marks:

CO2 Laser

CO2 Laser stretch mark removal consists of removing striae (stretch marks) via laser resurfacing. It works by removing the outer layer of skin to help restructure the overlying skin.

During the procedure, beams of light are used in concentrated amounts to encourage new growth. While it can’t get rid of stretch marks completely, laser removal may help make striae smoother, thereby reducing their appearance.

IPL & ND-YAG LASER

Light Star is the latest multifunctional short and long pulsed laser platform introduced by Quanta System. It is based on the combination of different laser sources including Alexandrite (755nm) and Nd:Yag (1320nm, 1064nm and 532nm). Light 4V is the most powerful “clinic in a system” device available on the market able to be configurable to one to five wavelengths, for hair removal, skin rejuvenation and tightening, leg veins, removal of vascular and pigmented lesions, acne and striae management.
