Arm Brachioplasty Orange County
K. Charles Kim, MD, an OC board certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon, specializes in a complete range of plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures. As an Orange County Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Kim is Certified from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in Reconstructive as well as plastic surgery. Dr. Kim is considered amongst the best in his field for performing surgeries such as Arm Lifts. Armlift Surgery is also referred to as Brachioplasty.
An Arm Lift, or Brachioplasty, is an extremely good way for both women and men to tighten up their arms. The lift this procedure can provide is also beneficial. Brachioplasty surgery can obtain a more young look and more slender, firmer arms. Having Armlift surgery is even more beneficial to patients who have had significant weight loss due to a surgery such as a gastric bypass or other bariatric surgery. It can also help with skin elasticity loss in an older patient.
In his time as a Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kim has seen that his patients are frequently thrilled at the results, claiming to have had the “wings” on their arms removed. The beneficial aesthetic results give them greater confidence and the freedom to wear their normal clothing once again. It also helps them to participate in any number of physical activities. As an OC Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kim sees many Orange County patients who have extra skin on their upper arm areas. This excessive skin is sometimes called “bat wings” and can result from the process of aging or significant weight loss. Dr. Kim will often suggest an arm lift (brachioplasty) to correct the condition.
The Armlift, or brachioplasty surgical procedure, usually takes about two or three hours to fully complete. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in the Orange County and Beverly Hills California Surgical Suites of Dr. Kim. An arm lift procedure, also known as brachioplasty, is performed under general anesthesia for the patient. To remove the unwanted skin, Dr. Kim makes the incision that begins near the elbow, then runs into the armpit. The incision is specifically made in the most inconspicuous location, usually along the inner arm, toward the back. Some scarring, however, will be visible as it’s impossible to completely hide. If you have questions about the scarring involved, you can speak to OC Plastic Surgeon Dr. Kim about ways to minimize the scarring after your individual surgery.
Please be sure to note that any patient who is considering having an armlift at our Beverly Hills surgical suites must weigh the benefits versus the negative aspects. The main benefit is having the loose skin removed. This must be weighed against the drawbacks of a definate permanent scar. There is unfortunately no scar-less arm lift surgical procedure. Most commonly, a patient who decides to have the armlift is one who has undergone significant weight loss and has on their arms what is often called “bat wings”. Patients who have just a small amount of sag often decide that the idea of scarring makes them decide to not have the armlift surgery. Please be sure to discuss all the different options available to you with Dr. Kim during your free consultation.
